In Transit Storage - This is storage used until the goods arrive at the destination location. Slow low fuel consumption ocean shipping can result in missed train and truck connections. When the next train or truck is available the in transit storage ends.
Temporary Storage - Short term storage of an unknown length, for example, if a container were damaged and awaiting an insurance inspector, when pets get sick and are placed into quarantine or while waiting for an unscheduled customs inspection. Frequently this type of storage also involves extra handling.
Short Term Storage - Storage, based on a short fixed duration, where that 'term' results in a lower costs. International moves frequently have a delay before final delivery, where possessions are stored until the start of the month, when the new home becomes available. Short term storage for that planned period helps keep those costs down.
Long Term Storage - Storage often based on annual rates. Visiting the destination country can reveal apartments and homes are smaller than expected. Putting family treasures into storage, either for other family members or in preparation for returning in a few years becomes the practical option. Contracting storage for that expended period reduces the storage costs significantly and assures the most stable environment.
Container Storage - Storage left in the originally loaded container offers reduced handling and added flexibility. When environmental control is not as important, this can be a cost effective alternate storage method. These containers are government certified intermodal containers, that have been modified with extra insulation and specially lined, equipped with furniture pads, straps and state of the art load restraint systems to cover and secure goods during transit.
